Chewy Granola Bar

I had some some expired Sunflower seeds, one shrivelled apple and some unhappy looking dates that needed to be used up, so I tinkered with an old bar recipe and loved the new twist on an old recipe. I hate wasting food so alhamdulillah that I found a way to save my apple, dates and seeds and to top it all I love how it came together for me, chewy, not too sweet and uber healthy. Enjoy!


All purpose flour-3/4 cup

Rolled Oat- 1 cup

Salt- a pinch

 Canola/Vegetable Oil- 1/4 cup

Dates- 1/2 to 3/4 cup, chopped into small pieces

Sunflower seeds- 3/4 cup

Apple- 1, grated

Brown sugar- 1/4 cup


1. Mix flour, oats, sugar and salt.

2. Mix grated apple, chopped dates, sunflower seeds, oil.

3. Mix both until incorporated, do not overmix.

4. Bake at 325 degree for about 30 minutes.

5. Makes 8 bars.
